Anger Control Game
The Anger Control Game
by Berthold Berg, Ph.D.
The Anger Control Game teaches children the skills they need for effective anger control. It is particularly helpful in treating conduct-disordered children or those with temper control problems.
Based on cognitive-behavioral principles, The Anger Control Game focuses on six skills related to anger control: empathizing with the victims; distinguishing between aggressive and nonaggressive acts; using self-statements to diffuse anger; generating and evaluating alternatives to aggression; identifying feelings underlying anger; and evaluating the opinions of others.
An Anger Control Inventory (included) helps you determine which skills a child needs to develop. Usually played by the therapist and one or more children, the game can also be played in the classroom.

The Anger Control Workbook
A complement to The Anger Control Game, this popular workbook teaches children how to control anger and deal with interpersonal conflict. It includes activities and exercises that reinforce the six skills addressed in the board game. If you work with children who have temper control problems, you'll find it highly useful. Ages 8 and up.
Anger Control Skits DVD
If you're working with teens or preteens on anger control, this DVD is a great way to stimulate discussion and behavior change. Skits performed by kids illustrate negative, then positive reactions to real-life situations. The dramatic contrast between "how not to" and "how to" never fails to provoke viewer involvement and discussion. While the main focus is on the protagonist's behavior, the skits also illustrate how peers should respond to anger and aggression.
Anger Control Thinking Skills Puppet DVD
This most engaging component of Berg's anger control program clearly demonstrates the six cognitive-behavioral principles taught by the game and workbook. The DVD presents two vignettes for each of the six skills and two scenes (positive and negative models) for each vignette. An accompanying manual provides scripts, so you can easily present the skits yourself if you prefer. Best used in tandem with at least one of he other anger control tools by Berg, this is an ideal introduction to game-playing or storytelling sessions, especially for younger children.
