Have Fun Drawing Different Faces for Different Feelings
by Gerard Emerson Langeler; illustrated by Joan and Mark Grindell
Just when kids begin to understand their own emotions, they’re expected to figure out what other people are feeling, too. This sturdy board book makes that task a little easier.
Left-hand pages show how a person’s face might look when he or she feels happy, sad, frustrated, surprised, cautious, confused, hurt, or loved. Corresponding text explains each emotion, relates it to real-life situations, and asks the child to describe a time when he or she felt that way. Opposite pages present a blank face. The child copies the appropriate expression onto this face, using a dry-erase marker (included). Duplicating the contours of the mouth, eyebrows, and eyes helps the child remember how feelings “look” on other people.
Genuinely interactive and endlessly useful, this spiralbound book is a fun way to help children link facial expressions and feelings.
“…an excellent book and certainly one that I will be recommending…”
