An Anger Management and Peacekeeping Curriculum for Kids
by Jennifer Simmonds, M.Ed.
Using a small-group process, this 12-session curriculum helps elementary- and middle-school students understand their anger so they can make healthy choices and build strong relationships. It lets kids know that they can control their behavior and manage their feeling—and imparts the skills needed to do so. Ready-to-use lesson plans and reproducible worksheets teach youngsters to identify anger triggers, take responsibility for mistakes, keep their cool, recognize provocation, state their feelings, and consider consequences. As an added benefit, the group process promotes self-confidence, cooperation, problem solving, listening, and other social skills. Each lesson plan describes objectives, supplies needed, preparation required, and initial warm-up and closing activities. Designed for groups of six to eight students.
"...very well laid out for the facilitator... Each lesson builds upon the others, creating a comprehensive and thorough curriculum."
Julie Neitzel Carr, Resolution and Prevention Program, YWCA of Minneapolis
